ExuraBio is a life sciences platform founded in Raleigh, North Carolina by Jean Desrosiers, a life science industry professional who recognized a significant and underserved gap in the market: billions of dollars in surplus laboratory and bioprocessing materials are written off, disposed of, or destroyed each year, not because they have no value, but because there is no trusted, purpose-built marketplace to connect the organizations that have them with the organizations that need them.

ExuraBio was built to close that gap.

We are a platform facilitator in the truest sense. We do not take ownership of products, hold inventory, or act as a distributor. Instead, we provide the verified marketplace infrastructure that enables life science organizations, biotech manufacturers, CDMOs, research institutions, and CROs to list, discover, and transact surplus materials directly with one another. Our role is to facilitate the match, verify the participants, document the transaction, and ensure the deal meets our rigorous listing quality standards.

What sets ExuraBio apart is the dual value we unlock for every transaction. For sellers, surplus materials recovery means recouping capital from inventory already paid for, while generating documented waste-diversion and Scope 3 emissions-reduction data that their sustainability teams increasingly require. For buyers, particularly early-stage startups, CROs, and academic research labs, ExuraBio provides access to high-quality materials at below-catalog pricing, reducing both procurement costs and the embedded emissions footprint of purchased inputs.

We launched a complete legal and operational foundation, a verified seller onboarding process, and a product scope intentionally designed to enable us to move fast, scale nationally, and stay focused on what matters: building the most trusted secondary marketplace in life science.

Our mission

At ExuraBio, our mission is to recover value from surplus life science materials while advancing sustainability across the biopharmaceutical industry. We connect organizations holding excess laboratory and bioprocessing materials, cell culture media, buffers, reagents, raw materials, single-use consumables, and equipment with buyers who need them at a discount. By keeping these materials in use rather than disposing of them, every transaction on our platform generates both recovered revenue for sellers and documented environmental impact that supports ESG and Scope 3 sustainability reporting.

We operate as a neutral platform facilitator, not a distributor or broker, providing the verified infrastructure, trusted listing standards, and transaction documentation that enable life science organizations to turn surplus inventory into a strategic asset.

Recover Value. Reduce Waste. Advance Science.

Our vision

ExuraBio's vision is to become the defining digital marketplace for surplus life science and bioprocessing materials, the infrastructure layer that transforms how the industry manages excess inventory at every stage of the product lifecycle.

We see a future where no viable laboratory material is disposed of when it could be transferred to an organization that needs it. Where surplus recovery is not a back-office cost item but a boardroom-level sustainability strategy. Where every kilogram of cell culture media redirected ExuraBio instead of being incinerated is a documented, auditable contribution to a life science company's Scope 3 emissions targets.

As ESG disclosure mandates tighten and investor scrutiny of environmental reporting grows, ExuraBio is positioned to be the platform that makes surplus materials recovery not just possible but measurable, verifiable, and strategically valuable. We are building the stock exchange of the life sciences surplus economy: the exchange doesn't own the assets; it provides the infrastructure, verified participants, and rules that enable trusted trading.
